Uzbekistan is the heart of the Silk Road. For centuries, oases of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva brought respite to the caravans that made their way through the desert. A trip through this country immerses you in effect on the progress of civilization, as the west. Today, Uzbekistan, to maintain this heritage, while trying to bear much of the countryside, historic nomadic populations better lives in a post-Soviet world. Slightly larger than California in area with a population of 26 million, Uzbekistan contains more than half the population of Central Asia. Known as sunny democracy ‘,’ Uzbekistan is arid with annual rainfall of only 4 to 8 inches. But do largely irrigated plains is the second largest cotton exporter in the world. It also contains important mineral resources and a world leader in gold production. Historically, Uzbekistan is very rich, making it a truly great tourist destination. More than 4,000 historic sites dot the country, and therefore stature as the pearl of the ancient Silk Road. The culture here was already ancient when Alexander the Great conquered the region in the 4th BC century. Until the discovery of the seaway to India and China, Uzbekistan is the crossroads of communication between East and West was the center of trade and exchange ideas. The conqueror Tamerlane (1336-1405) was born near present Shahrisabz and created an empire stretching across Central Asia to Turkey and south to the Ganges. An image of the city have been founded by Shem, son of the biblical Ark, Khiva has preserved ancient past and become a living record of the day as a major trading centers along the Silk Route. The historic center of the city contains spectacular examples of Islamic architecture. Palaces, minarets and mausoleums for centuries have been preserved and renovated Khiva a lens through which you can see in history.

The country is largely arid south of Uzbekistan, dominated by the desert of Kara-Kum in downtown, with mountains to the west and east. The country has some of the largest gas and oil in the world and is a major producer of cotton. Historically, Turkmenistan has seen conquerors from Alexander the Great to the Arab Muslims to Genghis Khan and Tamerlane, but maintained its identity, nomadic horses by then Soviet domination. In post-communist years, the Turkmen language and culture made a strong recovery. The Turks were legendary horsemen and their tall, powerful horses were prized by the Chinese in ancient times. The National industry in Turkmen rugs and carpets are prized worldwide for their beautiful designs and excellent craftsmanship. The extension of the nomadic life, people, carpets were For tourists, Turkmenistan is the archeological garden of delights. The remains of civilizations that have been swallowed by the centuries is everywhere to be found. Foothills, in dry riverbeds, in caves around the country, you can find tools, household utensils and pieces of bone, stone, ceramics and metals. Ruins of earthen houses and mountain fortresses that remain as 50 centuries ago. A visit to Turkmenistan should include staying in the city of the ancient Silk Road to Merv. This is one of the archaeological wonders, is actually 4 cities built at different times, a testimony to the Oasis’ strength as an important center along the Silk Road at the time of Alexander. All public buildings and apartments are in white marble, giving the city a unique beauty. The National Museum houses many culturally significant antiquities, and the Turkmen Carpet Museum contains many examples of world-class carpet-making capabilities of Turkmenistan, one of which covers a massive 294 square meters. In the west near the border with Uzbekistan, is another stop along the Silk Road, Kunya-Urgench, site of the Historical and Cultural Museum across State Preserve. The famous Kulug Timur minaret is the tallest in Central Asia, which is almost 200 meters. Another key is Turabeg Khanum Mausoleum, double dome and perfectly preserved interior tile work is considered one of the most important buildings in Asia. Natural Wonders of Turkmenistan, the Caspian Sea provides recreational facilities for boats and water sports enthusiasts.
