The Phi Phi islands were a location for the movie The Beach with Leonardo di Caprio, especially Maya Beach where the film crew planted some palm trees, there are no palms as you can see. Which resulted into an outcry of some Thai protesters who were mainly techers who send their minor aged students who had no idea whats going on to protest, pure manipulation but a welcome to the press.
